ALS 1959 April 16 : New York, to "Gertrude."

Here, at the age of 89, former U.S. Circuit Court, 2d Circuit Judge Hand writes to a friend who has sent some kind remarks to him. He says: "Of course it is pleasant to have folks gather and tell you that you are a hot potato; but even when they do it as well as those gents did ... there is a kind of unreality about it, that is disconcerting." Signed "L.H."
